Roster 2023-2024: Mark Turnbull

With the start of the season fast approaching, Billingham Stars will complete their roster over the coming days, starting with the return of netminder Mark Turnbull to the squad. Mark comes back to Teesside having previously turned out for the Stars in the 2019-2020 season, although most Billingham fans will know him better as a Whitley Warrior. Mark spent all of his junior career on Tyneside before graduating to the Warriors, however in recent seasons he has found his opportunities limited and jumped at the chance to rejoin the Stars when the call came.

Mark took the time to answer a few questions from Stars Media Team on the eve of his signing announcement:

“I’m very excited to be back. When I last played for the Stars I think the team was just starting out. Fozzy had just taken over and he hadn’t had the chance to build the team yet. But seeing the progress the Stars have made is very exciting. I can’t wait to get started.

I absolutely think we should be up there competing for trophies. Like I said, I’ve been very impressed with the progress of the Stars and I think it’s just a matter of time before the silverware comes.

Tom [Brown] and I know each other well. We’ve always been supportive of each other. He has been really good for the Stars and I think he will be again this year. Coming in I know my role is to provide a bit of support and hopefully make things a little bit easier for the goalies.

The Forum is always loud and the fans in Billingham have always been great. I’ve seen it from both sides and it’s always a fun place to play.”

The season is just around the corner – keep checking the socials for all the latest news from the Stars camp as that first game approaches!
