BILLINGHAM STARS return to the Forum later today for a National Ice Hockey League (N) Moralee Division 1 clash with Hull Jets, League points the priority rather than a dress rehearsal for next weekend’s Moralee Cup semi-final.
A wounded Hull travel to Teesside this afternoon, an unexpected 5-4 shootout loss to struggling Sheffield Scimitars last night taking the gloss off a return to home form with a win against Whitley Warriors last Saturday. Sitting comfortably above the Warriors in fifth place, the Jets need to pick up some form if the are to push for a top four position and consequently a more favourable playoff berth come the end of the regular season. The loss in South Yorkshire is all the more mystifying given Hull’s excellent performances on the road, and up until yesterday they had the best away record in the League. A bounce back result is certainly required, and there will be no better place to pick themselves up than with victory at the League leaders tonight.

Billingham got 2025 off to the best possible start with a 1-15 demolition of Sheffield last Saturday, a short bench still far too much for the Scimitars to handle. The Stars welcome back most of their missing players this evening but will still be without the services of a few key players as they look to preserve a 100% home record and – most importantly – get three precious League points in the bag. All of the focus will be on this League fixture, the Cup semi-final against the same opponents next weekend is not on the agenda until this match is out of the way as Billingham keep their eyes fixed on the ultimate prize of a second North 1 Championship in a row.
